Richard de Rozario will speak on using competency questions to evaluate ontologies.

Fadel, Fox & Gruninger (1994) introduced “competency questions” as one of the criteria to judge the acceptability of an applied ontology. What, if any, would be competency questions for a foundational (arguably, “philosophical”) ontology?

His work includes applied ontology research in the defence and intelligence domain. He holds a doctorate in Philosophy (Applied Ontology) from the University of Melbourne, and has previously worked in industry in the areas of information systems and risk analysis
